As we reflect on Right Action this week we have been watching this Kid President clip about how to make the world better and what we can do to help. For homework we are writing  a few points of the information that we think are most  important from what Kid President says.

Have a look and see do you agree with him?

  • We painted pictures based on the 'Scream' painting by Edvard Munch.

  • We are writing Halloween stories now. We did a story plan and a first draft. Now we are doing some self                              editing and some partner editing. We are working really hard and it is fun reading other people's stories.
  • We've continued our Values work on Kindness, Friendship, Sharing and Showing Love. There are                               some  really lovely stories in our values copies. Next month we will talk about Right Conduct.
  • It was Maths Week last week. We worked on websites at home and found lots of fun games. We did a Maths trail in the yard.

We've had a busy start to the year in 3rd Class. We've settled into our new classroom and are working very hard. Read  below for some of the things we've been doing. Have a look at  the slideshow for some pictures of what we've been up to.
  • We designed some nautical themed hats in art class to help the Caroline Foundation break a world record. We really enjoyed it and our hats turned out grreat.
  • We dressed up as our favourite character for Roald Dahl Day on September 13th.It was fun to see such a greaat variety of characters from Matilda to Ms Trunchbull to Veruca Salt. We had a Roald Dahl table quiz, read a comprehension about him and studied a powerpoint on his life. Teacher is reading 'Matilda' aloud to us at the moment.
  • We had a' Dubs Day' last Friday to support Dublin in the All Ireland on Sunday. Fingers crossed we'll have Sam Maguire coming to visit soon!!
  • Ms Keogh has been joining us for some of our English lessons and we are doing great work in groups on Reading fluency, Dictionary work, Creative writing and Encylopedia work which involves research and recording.
  • We started talking about values in our school and in our lives and we are really looking forward to thinking more about these. We had our first assembly and learned a lovely song called 'If you Wish for Love'. Our  main value for October is 'Love'
  • Today was Harvest Day and we had a great time picking our home grown french beans, carrots, marrows and courgettes. We also looked at the beautiful sunflowers growing down in our school garden. Thanks to Terry for all his work.

Well done to Ms Ryan's and Ms Miley's fifth classes and some girls from 3rd class who designed and created nautical hats to help the Caroline Foundation achieve a Guinness World                                        Record challenge.

Their hats looked really great and the Caroline Foundation were really grateful for so many hats from St. Brigid's to help them break the record.

See slideshow for some pictures.

We have been learning about electricity in third class, room 10. We learned how to make a simple circuit. Then we learned how to make a 'switch' to turn it on and off. We have a class full of budding scientists.

3rd and 4th class have spent some time discussing and writing their own versions of the Proclamation and including what they think is important for Ireland in the next 100 years. They worked really hard and put a lot of thought into their efforts. These ideas have been combined to create one proclamation from St. Brigid's which has been uploaded to 'Scoilnet'  as part of their 1916 programme.

The themes covered include love for all people, education, homelessness, equality, care for the environment and peace. Click on the picture have a look at our                                                                                             proclamation for a new generation.
