Religious Education

Grow in Love is the new Religious Education series for primary schools in Ireland.  The programme is based on the new Catholic Primary Religious Education Curriculum for Ireland approved by the Irish bishops and the Holy See in March 2015.  This curriculum will, over the next four years relplace the Alive O'Series.  The curriculum content is diviided into four interrelated strands:
1.  Christian Faith
2.  Word of God
3.  Liturgy and Prayer
4.  Christian Morality
Grow in Love was introduced for Junior/Senior Infants from September 2015 for First/Second classes from September 2016 and for Third/Fourth class in 2017.   It is hoped the Fifth/Sixth programme will be introduced  by 2018.  The programme has more emphasis on Scripture than the Alive O' programme.  It is also more interactive and is more explicit about the role of parents and the role of parish in school-based religious education.
Feedback from pupils, parents and teachers is very positive and we are looking forward to the school-wide introduction of the programme over the next few years.

As a Catholic school, our faith permeates all we do.  The message of Jesus is a message of LOVE.  Our goal at St Brigids is to create a school which reflects a climate of Love, Truth, Peace, Right-action and Non-violence.
Our school motto is Le Chéile Faoi Bhrat Bhríde (together under the protection of St Brigid).  This reflects our Holy Faith tradition and our desire to embrace all our pupils and their beliefs.
