  • We encourage people to recycle by collecting batteries.
  • In St. Brigid's, we use sensor lights so a light can never be left on wasting energy!
  • We re-use, recycle or dispose of our electrical equipment ethically by arranging WEEE collections!
  • We have an organic garden full of delicious fruit and vegetables!
  • Our beautiful school grounds are home to frogs, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, rabbits, pheasants, a badger and a host of birds!
  • We have a camera on our nesting box so we can watch all the progress inside! (In the past two years, we accommodated a family of blue tits then coal tits.)
  • We use recycled paper when photocopying!
  • We use fair-trade products in our staffroom!
  • We recycle ink-cartridges, batteries, paper, cartons and we compost!
  • We are proud of all the native trees we have growing on our grounds!
  • In St. Brigid's, we have 20 different nationalities in our school population and we enjoy learning all about the different cultures of our pupils and classmates!

We are delighted to welcome the new members of our Green Schools Committee this month.  This year, we are hoping to renew our Travel Flag which aims to increase the number of St. Brigid's students walking, cycling, scooting , using public transport or carpooling to school! In order to get our school year off to a good start, our Green Schools Committee organised 'Walk on Wednesday' on the 21st of September. It was great to see so many pupils walk or scoot to school! Our new committee also have some fabulous ideas on how to help us reach our goal of renewing our Travel Flag.
