The 6th class girls in Ms. Phelan's class are busy undertaking a European Union project called the Blue Star project. They are presently looking at historical, geographical, cultural and political aspects of the EU. To date, a lovely story about three dolls which survived World War Two has created great enthusiasm, as the girls design and make clothes for the three dolls. We have also done project work about the countries the dolls have come from, Poland, France and Hungary. We regularly correspond to pen-pals in both Poland and France.
Today we held a class election for two Blue Star reps. Eight girls spent the past two weeks campaigning with their ideas for Blue Star, and the girls with the most votes were Alana Fitzsimons and Suzanne Carey. Well done to them and all who participated in the election. We had a voting booth as well as ballot papers. The girls are already looking forward to voting for real when they turn 18!
