The Children have got Active – Now it’s your Turn!!As you know St Brigid’s School is running a very special and novel fundraiser on the 8th of March and we need your help. This year the fundraiser is a sponsored cycle and pedal powered cinema. The idea behind the event is that we get as many adults (parents, teachers and members of the community) to do a sponsored cycle to help raise money for the school. This though, is no ordinary cycle, all the power generated by the cyclists will run our cinema for the evening.
There are three fundraising elements to this event which we will explain below and hopefully they will make the day a great success; each cyclist will be asked to raise sponsorship, admission into the cinema and a power pledge. Sponsored Cycle Energy doesn't come any greener than this! It takes a team of 8 cyclists pedalling continuously to power the cinema. This will be achieved having 4/5 shifts of 20/30 minute cycling shifts but the more cyclists we have the less time you will have to cycle. So we need at least 32 cyclists which when broken down is only 2/3 cyclists per class. We will provide the bikes but we are also asking each participating cyclist to raise sponsorship of approx €100 each. Each cyclist will be given a sponsorship card and we suggest asking for approx €2 a line. Cinema Admission We are hoping all the girls in the school will come along with their family, friends, neighbours and the local community. There will be an admission fee into the pedal powered cinema of €6 per person or €20 per family of 4 (additional children are €2.50 each). Tickets will be on sale through the school from the 23rd of February. Power Pledge This element of the campaign is for those of you who might not be able to cycle or come to the cinema, or for those of you who know of a company or business who would like to play their part. The participating cyclists will generate an approximate total of 2,000 watts of power over the duration of the film and this is up for sale! Wattage is available at €3 per watt, €10for 4 watts or €20 for 8 watts. Further information will be available shortly about this. If you have not already done so and think you would like to be one of our cyclists please contact the school or parents association committee members. Thank you for your continued support. St. Brigid’s P.A.C. Don't forget the clothing collection in conjunction
with Bag2School this Friday! You can drop your bag/ bags into the school hall on: Thursday 29th January (1.15 p.m. - 1.45 p.m. and 2.15 p.m. - 2.45 p.m.) and Friday 30th January (8.30 a.m. - 10.00 a.m.) No bedding, duvets, pillows, curtains and towels. Shoes must be tied together Due to a serious lack of storage in the school, bags must only be dropped to school at the specified dates and times. Please return your bag/ bags to us and help us to have a really good collection! Many thanks for helping us with this unique fundraising opportunity. Parents Association Committee Dear parents,
First of all, we would like to wish you all a very happy new year! Secondly, the school needs your help with a very special event this term. A date for your diaries is Sunday 8th of March, when we will be showing a screening of one of the biggest family movies of recent times! Further details will follow but this is no ordinary film screening... the electricity needed will be generated entirely by Pedal Power! A team of volunteer cyclists will generate the power needed to show the film. This is where we need your help. We are looking for volunteers to help power the cinema for this very exciting occasion. Enthusiasm and a moderate level of fitness are the only requirements! This is a sponsored cycle, each volunteer will seek sponsors, and the money raised will go to the school. Please note this is the only fundraising event on the calendar this year and is replacing the Table Quiz which has been run the last couple of years. Your support therefore is really critical and is the only way this event will be the success it deserves to be. If you feel this worthy event is something you could participate in by volunteering as a cyclist (or know someone who would be up for it) please contact any of the teachers or parents association committee members for more details. You won’t regret it! Thanks in advance St. Brigid’s P.A.C. |
