Although the holidays had arrived, it was a sad day for the Green Schools Committee on Friday 24th October when our wonderful caretaker Jim retired. Jim was a very active and extremely obliging member of the committee in St. Brigid's right from the very beginning. We wish him all the very best in his retirement and hope he will enjoy a big relax after all of his hard work over the years. He will be sorely missed for his help, enthusiasm, good humour and of course his beautiful singing!

Despite the dreadful weather, the Bling Your Bike extravaganza went full steam ahead as well over 100 bikes, scooters and flickers of all shapes, colours and sizes flooded into our school yard to be proudly displayed on our catwalk. Sincere thanks to all who took part in this fun event and of course to those who helped to make it happen on the day. We are sorry we could not give prizes to everyone (parents included!) as the standard was just so remarkably high this year. Rest assured you played your part in helping to make Dublin's air cleaner on 8th October. Well done! Following on from our RSA workshops earlier this year, the Greenschools Committee hope that Bling your Bike will continue to encourage our school to cycle whenever possible and of course to cycle safely. This year we celebrated Harvesting Day in St. Brigid's on 6th October.
All classes from Junior Infants right up to 6th got their hands dirty harvesting all of our yummy produce and at the end of the day hampers of delicious veggies were raffled off in each class. Many thanks to Terry who works so hard on this allotment project with us. Check out some pictures of the day below and see if you can spot yourself! (Can you name the vegetables??) |
