In St. Brigid's we are taking part in the WEEE challenge and we check regularly what position we are in on the leader board! A reminder to everyone that we are still trying to collect as many batteries and ink cartridges as possible! Just bring them to school and we will do the rest! Big thanks to Ms. Edwards for arranging all our WEEE collections! We know our electrical goods are going to an ethical home- either to be re-used or recycled. Before and after! Each classroom in St. Brigid's has a compost bin, general waste bin, milk basin and paper bin. Now the staffroom has too! We monitor our water and energy usage all over the school.
WHILE WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL, OUR TARGET IS NOW TO REDUCE OUR WASTE OF PAPER!! Top tips: Why not use both sides of the page? Maybe you could start a re-usable paper collection in your classroom? This would be great for art or those wet lunch-times! If you make a mistake when you are photocopying, don't worry- just add the pages to the re-usable paper box beside the photocopier! Please don't put them in the paper bin if you could use that paper again! :-( Are there opportunities for you to send something/ share something without printing it out? Why bother recycling? These links will give you lots of reasons why! http://www.recyclemore.ie/ http://www.greenschoolsireland.org/resources/litter-and-waste.429.html
