The 3rd class girls in Room 10 have been learning to sing Castle in a Cloud from Les Miserables and some girls brought in their instruments from home to accompany the song. Check out all of the wonderful singing and instrumental talents that these girls share!
Just before the mid-term break, the girls from Room 16 visited the Waterways Visitor Centre to hear the author E.R. Murray discuss her book The Book of Learning. The girls heard about the characters and plot of this book. They also got to hear about how the author uses ideas for her books, and about her life as an author. The girls came away with ideas of their own to write books!
Before the midterm, 5th class in Room 14 made some delicious chocolate treats with a Valentine's theme. We also made and decorated Valentine's cards and gave them to our loved ones.
Huge thanks to the lovely Joan who organised everything! Hannah has completed a wonderful project on her great granduncle Dennis O'Callaghan who was involved in the Easter Rising. Well done Hannah! It has been uploaded to Scoilnet and can be found at https://www.scoilnet.ie/1916-ancestry-project/ancestry/ancestryid/2/.
3rd and 4th class have spent some time discussing and writing their own versions of the Proclamation and including what they think is important for Ireland in the next 100 years. They worked really hard and put a lot of thought into their efforts. These ideas have been combined to create one proclamation from St. Brigid's which has been uploaded to 'Scoilnet' as part of their 1916 programme. The themes covered include love for all people, education, homelessness, equality, care for the environment and peace. Click on the picture have a look at our proclamation for a new generation. This week in R.15 the girls enjoyed a dress-up day as characters from Dr. Seuss books which they love. They also made characters from the books and did an excellent job creating various and wonderful pieces of work.
