10/2/2017

Multicultural Week will run from Monday to Friday (13th-17th) next week with lots of exciting activities planned. We have children and parents from over 27 countries in our school.  Each class has been allocated a country to learn about and explore.
  • We will have displays in the hall from each country on Tuesday and Wednesday. Each class will go on a tour of the displays to view all the wonderful work. Any parents who would like to view these displays may pop in on either of these mornings between 8.30a.m and 9.00a.m.
  • On Wednesday afternoon all our international parents are invited to a meet and greet session in the hall (1.00pm-1.30pm).
  • On Thursday we will be having a fun quiz over the intercom.
  • On Friday some of our children with national costumes/traditional dress will take part in a costume display.
Have a listen below to the special song we've all been learning for multicultural week.

All Good Things Must Come to an End-Multicultural Week 2015

30/1/2015

Well, Multicultural Week has come to an end and wow a success!! Every class put in a massive effort and took part in numerous events during the week.

Fashion Show:
Well done to all the girls from Junior Infants to 6th class, who graced the catwalk on Tuesday in their traditional costumes and colourful outfits, You can find a video of the fashion shows in our VIDEO section.

Obstacle Course:
Each class represented their country and competed against each other in an obstacle course on Tuesday. A big thank you to Lana, Hannah R, Lauren, Ellen, Emily B, Shannon, Emma, Ellen C, Lucie and Rachel who are all members of the Active Schools Committee. These girls did an excellent job organising and setting up the obstacle course for the whole school.

Displays in the Hall:
On Wednesday and Thursday, our school hall was transformed into a temporary museum, displaying all the work each class had done while researching their assigned country. Some class made posters, some painted beautiful artworks inspired by an artist from their country. Other classes made traditional food from their country and others displayed traditional costumes. Each class visited the museum and had their passport stamped as they traveled around the world on an information fueled journey.

Parents:
A BIG thank you to all the parents who visited us during Multicultural Week to give talks, look at the displays and lots more. We hope you enjoyed the whole experience just as much as we did.

We will be uploading many, many photographs to our Photo Gallery over the next little while, be sure to check them out!

We held our Multicultural Fashion Shows on Tuesday. The children had great fun participating and cheering on their country. It was a great learning experience as we watched the colours and traditional costume of the many countries being represented.

We started off our week with an assembly for Multicultural Week. Multicultural week will be running from Monday to Thursday this week, with lots of exciting activities planned. Ms. Burke told us that we have children and parents from over 21 countries in our school. Wow! Ms. McGrath then showed us a lovely powerpoint and went through the countries of the different classes and the exciting schedule she had organised for the classes.
Then we sang our songs that we had learned for the special week.
Junior Infants- 2nd class sang 'The More We Get Together' and the 3rd-6th classes sang 'Everyone Belongs' (Diversity).
Have a listen below:
Be sure to check back during the week and over the coming weeks for updates, photos and much more all to do with Multicultural Week!
