The two sixth classes have been working with the 5th year pupils of St. Mary's for the past month, working together in preparation for their Confirmation on March 8 next. St. Brigid's have enjoyed a great relationship with St. Mary's for several years now. Today saw both schools come together for a wonderful prayer service in the convent chapel in conclusion of the work done the past few weeks. Thanks to St. Mary's for their great input in developing and contributing to this programme, which has shown to be of great benefit to the St. Brigid's girls.

Just to make sure we were learning lots of information we had a multicultural week quiz. There were three in all - one for junior, middle and senior classes. We played the countdown music before the quiz started and we had great fun trying to answer the questions. Room 9, Room 15 and Room 11 were winners in their categories. Sophia, Alison and Lucy were amazing quiz-show hosts and were very professional! Mr Manning was on hand to make sure that everything ran smoothly!
The school has recently updated our Acceptable Usage Policy to make sure that all our pupils are safe online. We have also reviewed our Social Personal and Health Education plan. You will find a copy of both of these in the policies and plans section under the Home tab.
This week we celebrated Multicultural Week. Multi Cultural week is sooo important in this school because we have children and parents from 27 different countries in our school. We loved learning all about our friends countries. Here are some things that we did during the week.
Well done to everyone that participated in Safer Internet Day. Have a look below at all our work, our selfies and our poster competitions. Congratulations to all. The comments on the blog last week were amazing, with fantastic tips on staying safe online. A whopping 96 comments. Be Safe and remember the three steps for online bullying. Tell someone. Ignore them. Block them. #Up2Us Congratulations to Harriett Kenny (3rd Class). Harriett entered a poetry competition in the Folens Christmas Annual and came 2nd. She won a voucher for Smyths toy store. Have a read of her poem below and tell us what you think. Congratulations Harriett!!
Little Helper The moon was gleaming bright and clear, like it did every year. I especially loved the sight, since it was Christmas night. But I couldn't go to sleep, so like Bo Peep I counted sheep. When I finally dozed off, I dreamt of all the toys for the little girls and boys. I had to make them all myself for I am a Christmas Scout elf. Harriett Kenny Multicultural Week will run from Monday to Friday (13th-17th) next week with lots of exciting activities planned. We have children and parents from over 27 countries in our school. Each class has been allocated a country to learn about and explore.
Some of the St. Brigid's 6th class girls will be running the Great Ireland Junior Run on April 9th next in the Phoenix Park. Today we welcomed the RTE News Today film crew and the run race director to our school where they were delighted to observe and interview some of these girls. Despite it being a cold day, the girls had great fun running and answering a few questions. We look forward to a great day of running and participation in April, when hopefully the temperature will be a little kinder to us. Well done St. Brigid's! During February we will be thinking about the value of 'Peace'. We kicked off the month on Monday with Ms Burke's peaceful values assembly, where we all practised some heartful meditation, listened to stories and quotes and sang the song 'A Little Peace'. The related values that we will be focusing on each week this month are being calm, self-discipline and mindfulness.
