We had a Jersey Day on Friday in the run up to the All Ireland to raise money for Goal and the people in Syria. In 4th class we designed jerseys, researched the Sam Maguire, based our Irish and History lessons on the GAA and played a game of Gaelic football.
There was a wonderful variety of jerseys on display with the majority of course dressed in their blue to support the Dubs. Ms O' Donoghue was flying the flag for Kerry in Junior Infants and we'll all be very nice to her this week as she gets over her disappointment. Congratulations to the Dublin team from all in St. Brigids. :-) Check out some pictures from the day in this video:

We had a great visit to the Hugh Lane Gallery to learn about Francis Bacon, his paintings and the wonderful studio he worked in in London until he died in 1992. This studio was then brought to the Hugh Lane Gallery over a course of 6 years. After viewing the studio, it was time for us to recreate our own mini studios. It was great fun doing this, and we came back to school with many colourful pieces of work.
Our Welcome Meetings will take place tomorrow evening September 15th at 7.00 pm in your daughters' classrooms. This will be a chance for parents to meet class teachers and hear about the plan for the year ahead. The meetings will take no longer than 40 minutes. We hope to see you all there!
After our restful Summer holidays, we are now back in a new class, with lots of new things to learn and do. We look forward to a great year in 5th class.
