From our parent survey on the teaching and learning of SPHE, we found that that lots of parents would like more information about the content of the SPHE curriculum. Below you will find an SPHE information sheet for parents. This describes the content of the SPHE curriculum, the programmes that support the teaching of SPHE and our school's two-year timetable. We hope that you will find this information useful!

On Friday the 2nd December we were invited to the Mansion House for the award ceremony of the City Neighbourhodd Competition. We were all very excited but nervous at the same time. We all work so hard to keep our school and neighbourhood clean that we really, really wanted to win.
We got the bus into town and walked to the Mansion House. On the way, we stopped off to say hello to Ms. Molly Malone and checked out the beautiful windows of Brown Thomas. When we got to the Mansion House we were greeted by the Lord Mayor and had some hot chocolate and cupcakes, they were delicious!! We then had an X-Factor competition. We performed a little drama and did a rap. The other school did some songs and raps too. Then it was time for the Lord Mayor to announce the winner of the City Neighbourhood Competion.........We were hanging off the edge of our seats, When we heard our name being called out we jumped up with excitment. We WON!!! We won a massive €1000. We would like to thank everybody for their help in winning this competition, especially Terry our gardner, David our caretaker, everyone on the Green School Comittee and all the children in the school for keeping their school and neighbourhood tidy. CONGRATULATIONS! Throughout December we will be focussing on the value of 'Truth'. The related weekly values that we are thinking about this month are telling the truth and not being afraid. Do you think it's important for people to tell the truth? Feel free to post your opinions on truth in the comments section... :o)
Last month in St. Brigid's we focussed on the value of 'Right Action'. The related values that we thought about each week were helping, being a good example and consideration. As usual there were lots of interesting and creative activities going on around the school related to the values and we heard some lovely stories from a few girls read out over the intercom. Here is a look at some of the 'Right Action' activities that were going on around the school last month... :o) |
