Thanks to an invitation by Cllr. Paul McAuliffe, the girls in Mrs. Phelan's 6th class had a wonderful tour of City Hall today. After a brief introduction to City Hall, Cllr. McAuliffe proceeded to show the girls the chamber where Dublin city councillors hold their meetings. The girls loved the opportunity of speaking into the microphones, and seeing how votes are taken in the chamber, as well as the process involved when a new mayor is to be elected. This was followed by tour of the museum, where the chains of office are on display, as well as an outline of the history of Dublin City.
A huge thank you to Cllr. McAuliffe for enabling the class to have the chance to visit City Hall, and for providing worksheets for the girls to work on during their visit.
