Well done to Nessa, Ava and Rachael who played in the Exhibition Match at half time during the Ladies' All Ireland Football Final on Sunday. We hope they experience many more All-Ireland finals on the pitch!

In September we explored habitats in the Botanic Gardens and looked at the wonderful sculptures. We also wore blue to support our superb GAA teams. Up the Dubs!
Both third classes visited the Botanic Gardens before school finished for the summer. Jennifer from R7 brought her butterfly growing kit and everyone watched in amazement as the butterflies were released. She had nurtured them from small caterpillars through their development to butterflies. It was wonderful. On Fri. 26th June, Room 10 performed The Witch who Nicked Happiness for their friends and family. They worked very hard, learning their lines and giving it their all. It was great fun, enjoyed by actors and audience alike. On Friday 5th June Room 10 performed a rocking 'Times Tables' concert for their parents and the children in the school. They were accompanied by musicians Peter (who wrote the songs), Claire, Patrick and Stephen. Well done girls - this certainly makes learning the times tables a lot of fun!
Our 3rd classes had a great time in St. Mary's taking part in lots of fun activiites on the hockey pitch. Thanks to the transitions year students for inviting us. See our Active Schools blog for more information and photographs. http://brigidsactiveflag.weebly.com/ We hopped, skipped, calculated, mapped, bounced, ran, drew and kept active on out Easter Trail. On Thursday 12th March the 3rd class girls from room 10 went to visit the Little Museum of Dublin on St. Stephen's green. The museum is full of objects from the past. Most of these objects were donated to the museum by ordinary people from Dublin. A lovely lady called Helena brought us on a tour of the museum and showed us lots of interesting artifacts and toys from the past - a lot of them simply found in people's attics! Have a look.... On Thursday 11th December the children in Room 10 put on a fantastic Christmas show for their families. The girls played Jingle Bells on the tin whistle, recited some wonderful Christmas poetry (An Sneachta and Twas the Night Before Christmas) and sang some beautiful songs (The Gift, Little Jesus, A Christmas Wish and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer). Well done girls, you certainly put everyone in the Christmas mood! Here are a few photos and videos of the show.. |
