R.16 5th class enjoy Cinemagic and The Childrens Book Awards Ceremony

24/5/2016

The 5th class girls from R.16 were delighted to be a part of the annual Cinemagic Film Festival when recently in Dublin.

On May 16th, the girls travelled to Cineworld Cinema  to watch a screening of the new film, The Jungle Book.
All agreed that this film was interesting, exciting, and at times made us jump out of our seats. Even Ms. Phelan was seen to jump at one stage!!!

It was great to be part of the Cinemagic Festival and get to see this new film.

On Monday May 23rd, R.16 were once again travelling to the City Centre, to the beautiful Smock Alley Theatre, to represent St. Brigid's school at the annual Children's Book Awards Ceremony as part of their Shadowing process to determine which shortlisted book would they agree was the best and most interesting. The girls from the other 5th class were also in attendance at this event. Rick O'Shea was the presenter of the awards and was great to listen to. Ellen from Ms. Phelan's class, and Kate from Ms. Ryan's class, were selected to present the children's choice award to the overall winner, Sarah Crossan for her book One.
It has been a great experience and opportunity for the two 5th classes to be involved in this process, and a huge honour that St. Brigid's were invited to this ceremony. Well done to all the girls for their excellent behaviour and interest in this event. Their work over the past few weeks was superb.

I had such a great day at both trips! Especially Cineworld to go see The Jungle Book. It made me cry, laugh and jump out of my seat. The Children's Book Awards was also very good. I loved asking Sarah questions about her book. Thank you for bringing us on such amazing trips. :)
