The two 6th classes enjoyed a very informative, interesting and fun workshop at the Axis in Ballymun as part of Space Week. The girls looked at the planet Saturn and the Cassini mission which explored this interesting planet. The girls were also linked to Karen O'Flaherty a European Space agency scientist via Skype whereby Karen presented a wonderful power point presentation on our solar system to the girls. The 6th class girls in R.16 also got to learn about the International Space Station as part of Space Week, and created their own ISS models. This led us to creating our own imaginary planet, Cow Planet, which proved to be a superb planet far far away! As part of Space Week, Ms. Phelan got a wonderful opportunity to attend the primary teachers space conference in the Netherlands as part of the European Space Agency education programme. She worked with over 50 teachers from around Europe, and brought many great ideas and materials back to school. She even got to board the ISS!!!
